Special Events & Announcements
MTC hosted Dramafest, the WA state annual one act drama festival, in September 2011. 21 plays were presented over the weekend.
MTC were the proud recipients of several awards at the conclusion of the festival.
Adjudicator's Certificate for his performance in The Boat - Geoffrey Leeder.
Adjudicator's Certificate for Ensemble Work - The Most Massive Woman Wins.
Best Director Award - Jodie Hansen for The Most Massive Woman Wins.
Melville also took The Most Massive Woman Wins to the Hills Festival of Drama, hosted by Darlington Theatre Players, at the Marloo Theatre in September 2011.
The play, written by Madeleine George and directed by Jodie Hansen, made a virtual clean sweep of the awards, winning the following:
Best Actress - Laila Gampfer
Best Director - Jodie Hansen
Best Overall Production.
Congratulations to Jodie and her cast.
The annual Finley Awards were held at the beginning of the year, and Melville was delighted to take home the top award, winning "Best Play" for our first season of 2010, The Return by Reg Cribb, directed by Jeff Hansen.
The following awards were also received -
Best Actor - Adam Shuttleworth for The Return
Best Other Than Lead Actress - Penny Searle for The Return
The Return also received an Adjudicator's Certificate for Techincal Work.
Brenda Stanley was awarded Life Membership of the ITA for her services to Perth theatre.
Norma Davis was inducted into the ITA Hall Of Fame for her years of work behind the scenes, and occasionally on the stage.
