Our inaugural Featured
Member is our own Edna Ford, who has been an invaluable and
tireless member of Melville Theatre Company since 1992. Edna
is a genuine "Geordie" (from Newcastle-on-Tyne for
those unfamiliar with the term) who settled in Australia in
1958.
Her first experience with
MTC was as a dialect coach for the play ...And A Nightingale
Sang back in January 1992 and it was then that the company
also recognised her considerable talent as a pianist. Since
then Edna has accompanied many an aspiring performer at auditions,
rehearsals and during productions, as well as leading us all
in community singing during social events.
When she's not playing
the piano Edna can be found working Front of House for every
performance and few of our patrons would not have bought a raffle
ticket from her.
Recently she tried to "pull the plug" as she puts
it but we wouldn't let her! It just wouldn't be the same without
"our Edna".
Thank you Edna, from all
of us.
